Course Breakdown:

Week 1 – Introduction to Wine, Weds 3rd June, 7pm-8pm

This first session will cover the basics: how wine is made and where in the world it comes from, how to taste wine and assess it like a true professional.

Week 2 – Red Wines of the World, Weds 10th June, 7pm-8pm

Here we’ll explore the huge variety of red wine styles to be found. From light and fruity Pinot Noir to the smoky, spicy Rioja; the elegant Cabernet Sauvignon to the powerful Australian Shiraz! We'll also talk about tannin and why some wines get better with age, as well as some other useful tips like why/when you should decant wine and what temperature to serve it at.

Week 3 – White Wines of the World, Weds 17th June, 7pm- 8pm

This evening we’ll move on to talk about white grape varieties and what they taste like as well as the wine regions that they come from. We'll also cover things like use of oak, find out which is better - cork or screw cap, and bust a few wine myths too.

Week 4 - Food and Wine Matching, Weds 24th June, 7pm-8pm

The last evening is all about how to match food and wine. We'll taste three different wines from around the world and understand how a good pairing can compliment both, with examples such as smoked salmon, blue cheese and cured meats. You'll pick up some really useful tips that you can put to good use at home as we talk about the building blocks of wine: acidity, sweetness, body, alcohol, tannin and the effect these have on food.

Simply book your space(s) below and we'll send you a link for ordering the wines. We'll also send instructions for joining the zoom calls using desktop, laptop, tablet or phone. Zoom is proving to be a very social medium for wine tastings so you are guaranteed to have a fun time! Each session will last just over an hour.
