Gin Tasting Masterclass
Gin has a long history, especially in London, and has been a sought after drink for centuries. Fortunately, the days of 'Mother's ruin' and Hogarth's 'Gin Lane' are long gone, and in recent years the Gin scene has developed to include a huge range of different styles. There are now many micro-distilleries to be found, producing small batch artisanal Gin alongside our tried and tested favourites. So if you've ever wondered what the differences between the various styles are and why, this is the course for you!
During the evening we will try several different styles of Gin, discover how Genever as it once was known came to be Gin as we know it today, discuss the different production methods, and how the different botanicals affect the overall flavour. We will also be able to try each with different mixers to see what affect it has on the taste.
The line-up will vary from evening to evening, but will include at least some of the following:
- Some of today’s well-known favourites (Chase and Mermaid)
- London Gin (Bloom)
- International Gin (Ki No Bi - Japan)
- Small batch specialities (Dictator - Columbia)
- Some award winners! (Ophir)
The price for the Gin workshop includes at least six Gins and a tutored tasting using professional ISO glasses and, of course, some garnishes to accompany.
